New Member Orientation

February 18, 2013

The Hobart Jaycees will be holding a New Member Orientation on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 6pm. A New Member Orientation is a great way for the public to come and learn more about our organization, what we do for the community, and what our members get out of the organization. There will also be a General Membership Meeting beginning at 7pm. Both meetings will be held at our building, 18 E Old Ridge Rd. The public is welcome.

Arson Strikes Hobart Jaycees

We, the Hobart Jaycees, are saddened by the recent arson of our business trailers. While the trailers served as a business function for many of our projects, including Jayceefest, they were also the keeper of our rich past. Years of historic posters of Jayceefest containing autographs of musicians, some who are now deceased, and pictures of our charitable contributions lined the walls. The posters and the donation checks served as a reminder of how we strive to make a difference in the community. We can replace the trailers, but the historic and sentimental value can never be replaced.
It has been a tough few years for this organization; however, we will not let a bad economy or a few individuals deter us from making our community a better place. With that in mind, we vow to move forward. On December 8th, we will be taking 57 children (a record for our chapter) on our Giving Kids Christmas Shopping Spree. In addition to the shopping, we will host a Christmas party with a holiday meal for their family and a visit from Santa. To help fund this project, beginning, Friday, November 23rd, we will be selling Christmas Trees at our clubhouse, 18 E. Old Ridge Road. In January, we will be recruiting new members (ages 5 to 17) for Junior Jaycees community program. Visit our website www.hobartjaycees.com for additional information on any of these projects.
We would like to thank the Hobart Police Department, especially Detective Dave Evans, Officer Zormier, Officer Garber, Hobart Fire Department, especially Bob Scott and the firemen on C turn, the City of Hobart and the Hobart Parks Department. We appreciate their immediate assistance, personal sincerity, and dedication to the ongoing investigation.
